This December, we present works by two artists forming a colorful collaboration.
Conversation in Clay | Diel Gray
Ceramist Diel Gray describes his work as a “conversation.” The clay allows him to assert himself, and, at times. he allows the clay to have the dominant voice. The creative exchange between the artist and the creation is always dynamic. The conversation may be abstract, but we all have a visceral response to objects that have something to say. It deals with motion, texture, color, form and composition, which are manifest as visual ideas like hard vs. soft, smooth vs. rough, and dark vs. light. Each finished piece is a record of the creative exchange between the artist and the medium.
Smiley Face Suite | George Sánchez
In this series, Sánchez does not disappoint. He surprises us with nine quirky happy faces. Each has a story to tell, each having their unique persona. The works function separately yet create a cheerfully cohesive expression.
